How to sell your papers

The first part of your paper that someone reads is the abstract. Still many writers (including me) have a lot of difficulties in writing a good abstract. Markus Kuhn from lightbluetouchpaper gives some useful advice on writing an abstract.

From my experience, writing the abstract is the most difficult part of writing a paper. Therefore, it is the first thing I write. It serves as a guideline for my writing. During the rest of the paper I will regularly come back to the abstract and change something or get some guidance on how to proceed.
